“When I began my blindness training there was so much to learn. I’d never used a screen reader on my phone or computer, and had simply relied on magnification. Amena was able to teach and show me how to use a screen reader to become more efficient in my master’s courses. I’m now employed as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor and could not be doing the work I do everyday without the training I received. Amena taught me how to navigate multiple screen readers and programs using non-visual techniques. She taught me how to problem solve technical issues independently so that I could troubleshoot for myself when challenges arise. She made it fun and exciting to learn, and empowered myself with the skills I needed to be successful. I’m so thankful to have had Amena Thomas as my Rehabilitation Technology Specialist.” -Tasha W.
